Kent, 15, rides for the Pink Jersey Race Team and also trains with the Whitby Wheelers when her schedule allows her to.

The cycling star achieved success in road, track and cyclo-cross events in the last year, culminating in her jointly winning the Junior Sports Girl Under-16 Award at the recent Scarborough & District Sports Awards with Yorkshire CCC cricketer Leah Dobson.

The Caedmon College pupil wrapped up both the North East Sprint and Scratch championships, claimed three top-10 positions in the National Trophy Round in cyclo-cross and finished 11th at the National Championships.

Kent (pictured right) also secured success in her road events, winning both the North East Youth League and the North East Championships.

She also claimed fourth place in the North West Youth Tour (National four-day stage race), fifth place in the Youth Tour of Scotland (National three-day stage race) and ninth spot in the Scarborough National event.

The Olympic Development Academy involves monthly camps in Manchester, Derby and Newport velodromes, as well as an intensive training and national race programme, which includes weekly trips to Manchester.
