Whitby Town’s on loan goalkeeper Ryan Whitley has expressed an interest in extending his loan with the club beyond its December end.
Whitley made his debut in men’s football in the 0-0 draw with Stafford Rangers at the Turnbull Ground, putting on an assured performance.
The young gloveman, on loan from York City, has settled in well at the Turnbull Ground and feels that a longer stay could be beneficial to him.
“It all depends on the next few weeks,” Whitley told the Whitby Gazette.
“I’d like to stay at Whitby a bit longer.
“I feel I’ve settled in well here but ultimately it’s up to Chris (Hardy) and Martin (Gray) at the end of this.
“If I perform well in the next couple of games then there’s a chance it’ll happen.
“I’ve just got to keep showing what I can do.”
The 18-year-old’s performance against Stafford drew a number of plaudits on social media, and the goalkeeper admitted it was a confidence boost for him.
“It meant a lot to me that the fans gave me the praise that they did,” Whitley added.
“It’s always a bit of a confidence-booster when people recognise your performance, and it was good to see so many positive comments.
“I was happy with the performance and to keep a clean sheet is always good.”
