Whitby Wanderers give ‘Dales an early scare

FYLINGDALES FC survived an early scare when they took on Whitby Wanderers in a friendly.

Whitby Wanderers, who hope to join the same league as ‘Dales next year, started this friendly well with midfield dynamo Mike Tom spreading the ball around well.

Wanderers took the lead when Dan Wilson latched onto a good cross to fire home, giving ‘Dales keeper Steve Mothersdale no chance.

‘Dales soon levelled when Dan Cairns fired home from just outside the box before Barry Heyes put ‘Dales in the lead with a diving header. Lee Millner then increased the Bay side’s league after Jake Faichney put him through.

‘Dales started the second half well and Barry Heyes scored his second goal after going on a mazy run to score a fine solo goal. Wanderers pulled a goal back soon after when Darren Magill chipped the ‘Dales keeper to score but the Bay side finished in style when Jake Faichney, who was having a great game, nutmegged Wanderers left back Lee Graham and sent an inch perfect pass to Lee Millner who crashed the ball in the back of the net to score the fifth.
