The Seasiders will welcome the young Black Cats to the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground on Saturday July 31 for a 2pm kick-off.

It will be the third season in a row that the two sides have faced off in pre-season, with the previous two encounters being at the Academy of Light with Sunderland running out 3-0 winners in 2019, and the Blues winning 2-0 last year.

Sunderland finished sixth in the Premier League 2 Division Two last season which saw them qualify for the play-offs where they missed out on promotion in the penalty shoot-out against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Whitby have already announced away games against Hebburn Town, Whitley Bay, Guisborough Town and Stockton Town, as well as home matches with York City, Spennymoor Town, Shildon and Darlington following on from the Whitby Town Community Cup next week.

Tickets for the York City friendly on Saturday July 10 are now available to buy from whitbytownfc.com. This is an all-ticket fixture and no tickets will be sold on the day.
