STAITHES cruised home against a Bull’s Head side weakened when Mike Dickinson pulled a hamstring while warming up.
Bull’s had the first chance to score in the sixth minute, when Jamie Keeler failed to get a good strike on ball and fired wide.
This seemed to spark Staithes in to life and they got stronger as the half went on with midfield trio Braithwaite, Thompson and Gilding dominating the central area of the field.
Laverick, Smithies and Armstrong all missed one-on-ones with the home keeper as Staithes pressed for the opener.
It was the ever-dangerous Smithies who and got the opening goal on 33 minutes, cutting between defenders from the left and driving the ball into the top right hand corner on the half an hour.
A second goal for Staithes followed shortly after when Gilding wasn’t tracked from midfield and slotted home a low cross in from the right.
James Rowe had a long-range volley go just wide late in the half for the Bull’s.
The second half started as the first finished with Staithes on top and Dave Laverick put the game to bed following in Armstrong’s header to tap home the third.
The only surprise after that was the that Staithes failed to add more goals with chances going begging,
Armstrong and Thomson the main culprits. Bull’s Head remain spirited but Sanderson in the Staithes goal was not tested.
