Staithes Athletic take on Scarborough Athletic in the North Riding County FA Senior Cup at the Flamingo Land Stadium on Tuesday night

The Coblemen were drawn against holders Scarborough in the North Riding County FA Senior Cup, with the game being switched to Boro’s home ground.

Athletic’s Richard Ward is looking forward to Tuesday’s tie with the Bet Victor Northern Premier League outfit.

“Everyone is looking forward to the game, it’s the ideal draw for us and a great opportunity for our young players to test themselves against higher division opponents,” he said.

Staithes are currently sat in fourth place in the North Riding Football League and are on a 13-game winning run.

“We’ve had three years in the Premier Division, and this is the first time that we’ve had a settled squad from pre-season,” he added.

“We’re winning games and Gary (Sivills) has done a really good job since taking over.

“They’re the holders so will want to do well, the first priority is to enjoy the game and make sure that the lads give a good account of themselves in front of a big crowd.

“It is a great game for the lads and hopefully everyone enjoys the occasion and performs well.”

Manager Gary Sivills is also relishing the occasion.

Sivills said: “I’m looking forward to the game and it’ll be the first time that we’ve been at full strength all season.

“I’ve constantly told the lads that building the momentum is key, it’s like having an extra man on the pitch and always builds confidence within the side.”
