FISHBURN Park under 11s won through to the next round of the League Cup on penalties, defeating Northallerton from the league above.
Park were out of the traps early and were 1-0 up within the first few minutes.
A corner driven in low by Hambley was finished off well by Hansell.
Park settled well in the first half and were creating some good chances with Northallerton relying on long balls down the middle on the counter attack.
One such ball was latched on to well by the forward to hold off the Park challenge and finish well for 1-1.
Against the run of play, Park responded well again with a very well-worked goal. Slick passing with Ward supplied Swales to curl in his first of the season to restore the lead at half-time.
Thee visitors came out stronger in the second half, scoring with their first attack for 2-2.
Humble in goal did well to block bravely at the forward’s feet but the bounce favoured the Northallerton striker for a tap-in.
Park battled well through the second half and had a couple of great chances to win the game outright but found the visitors’ defence and keeper in good form.
Northallerton too had improved during the second half and also had a couple of fine chances, with the Park defence up to the challenge.
Extra time followed and chances were few for both sides after a well-contested match.
In the shoot-out, Park keeper Tiplady made one good save and two of the away team missed the target. Sault, Gibson and Hansell scored their penalties and sent the lads deservedly through to round two.
