Sports Minister believes junior grassroots sport should be first to restart after lockdown

The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Oliver Dowden has admitted that junior grassroots sport should be the first to restart after the lockdown.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC's Dan Roan, Dowden said: "My view is particularly that kids' sport should be the last one into the lockdown and the first out and we have managed that in the past and I will certainly be making that case again."

Dowden also confirmed that the Government were hoping that a plan for the return of fans to sporting events would also be part of the mid-February lockdown review announcement.
