Sleights stung by Wasps in first game

SLEIGHTS lost their first competitive game in the Scarborough and District League on Saturday.

Jim Howard’s men fell behind early on after goalkeeper Richard Coulson was beaten by the bounce on the Caedmon School pitch and Howard Dickinson put the visitors ahead.

Westover added a second through Paul Remmer, before Ian Smith despatched a penalty.

However, another defensive error let in Remmer again with half-time looming.

A much better showing after the break from Jim Howard’s men saw Jason Jeffrey pull a second goal back.

However, another strike for the substitute was disallowed, meaning the villagers started with a defeat.

Sleights FC: Coulson, Wilson, Howard, Taylor, Fletcher, Magill (Greenhill 60), Prior, I Smith, Webster, Ingham (Jeffrey 60), T Smith.
