Sleights FC’s top awards end in ties

SLEIGHTS FC players picked up awards from their inaugural season at the end of season presentation night at the Coast Cafe at Northcliffe and Seaview Holiday Park hosted Sleights FC’s end-of-season presentation night.

There were eight trophies handed out in total, with two of the top awards ending in ties.

The club decided to have all but the manager’s player of the year award - which went to goalkeeper Rich Coulson - voted for by members on the night.

A surprised Coulson (18) told the Whitby Gazette: “I was delighted to win the award, even though it was unexpected.

“But credit to the whole team, who have had an excellent first season.

“I’m confident we can build on it and hopefully challenge for promotion.”
