Sleights FC are on the look-out for a new manager after James Howard, back row far right, stepped down

The historic club’s latest incarnation was founded by Howard in 2010 and back-to-back promotions took the club to the First Division of theSaturday League in 2014, where they remain.

A Sleights FC press statement told the Whitby Gazette: “James is still keen to be involved with the club, but his other commitments mean he can no longer make every Saturday.

“We thank him for his hard work and dedication, we now look for a successor who is a good motivator, fully committed and either has previous experience or is keen to gain it.

“We’re an ambitious club and want to be back playing in the village in the near future, we’re looking into it but do you have some level land in Sleights and think you can help us?

“Justin and Martin are the best sponsors we could hope for at the First In Last Out and we’ve had some great help from Cowens and other local businesses and individuals too.

“We also hope there is support within Sleights for us – the great people at the Salmon Leap have always helped us with domino drives and raffles, now we want to take the next step, find a new pitch in the village and a new first team manager to drive us forward.”
