Sleights accepted into local football league

SLEIGHTS will have a football team playing in the Scarborough and District League next season after they were accepted at Monday night’s AGM.

The village team will go into the third division of the league, which recommences in September.

Sleights will be up against Whitby RUFC who missed out on promotion on the final day of last season.

Whitby Fishermen will play in division two while Fishburn Park Reserves will try their luck in the top tier.

The cup draw sprang a local derby as in the league trophy, Whitby RUFC – now being managed by Chris Headlam – will face Sleights.

In the Frank White Trophy, Sleights will host Seamer Reserves while Whitby RUFC got a bye.
