Fishburn lost this fixture last season but with two excellent opening games, they expected to take the win.
From the off, Fishburn were finding spaces and accurate passing left the Heslerton defence floundering.
Within a minute Fishburn were ahead, Whitehead found Idle out wide and a beautiful cross found Graham who headed home powerfully. Pike then went on a mazy run but his crisp 30-yard shot hit the bar. Lightwing played a nice ball down the left into Shrimpton who was upended 30 yards out. The in-swinging free-kick was flicked on by Stokoe and Stonehouse reacted quickest, smashing the ball home at the far post.
On 21 minutes it was 3-0 – Lewis played a perfectly weighted pass into Pike who beat a couple of players before being chopped down in the box for a penalty, which he tucked away.
Purves was clearing up any long balls and his quick turn and pass set Shrimpton away again, after beating three would-be tacklers he won a corner. The cross fell nicely to Lewis who found an opening through a group of players to leave the keeper stranded. Some great inter-play through Stonehouse, Hewison and Clarkson resulted in a dangerous cross that the defence were unable to deal with, so Graham nipped in to cleverly nod home his second. Lewis hit a superb free-kick over the wall that struck a post.
The second half was similar to the first; Fishburn had the lion’s share of possession and territory. B Pike turned the leftback before his cross found Clarkson but the shot fizzed over the top. New signing Beaver was getting forward well from right back and looking to link up with the forward players. Heslerton broke and a speculative overhead kick looked in but Jinks made an excellent one handed save to keep his third clean sheet in succession.
Fishburn were unable to add any more goals but were in complete control throughout in another excellent performance.
Man of the match: Billy Graham – worked his socks off all day and scored two excellent headers.
