Whitby side Fishburn Park fought back from behind to take three important points in their bid to escape the drop.

Opponents Richmond took the lead after just five minutes of Saturday’s Teesside League first division game.

A powerful shot from the edge of the area was brilliantly palmed away by keeper Kieran Noble but before the ball crossed the byline, Carl Pottinger netted from an acute angle .

Park were soon level, with Jericho Keys firing in from 25 yards with an unstoppable strike on 10 minutes.

Fishburn started the second half with more purpose and took the lead when Liam Beckett fired home after a slick move.

Park finally secured the points five minutes from time.

After a spell of Mavericks’ pressure, Jericho Keys broke clear and unselfishly laid the ball off for Paul Tose to sidefoot home.

Boss Alan Price said: “This was not a vintage performance from the home side but their never-say-die attitude won them the points.”
