Beth Mead celebrates scoring on her Arsenal Ladies debut

The 21-year-old replaced Jodie Taylor in the Gunners’ 10-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur and soon marked her debut with a goal, finding the top corner as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the SSE Women’s FA Cup.

Mead told The Whitby Gazette: “It was an amazing feeling. I’ve been injured since I’ve come to the club and not been able to play so I was grateful just to get the minutes on the pitch and to score just topped it off.

“I was put through one-one-one with the keeper and I smashed it past her into the top corner.

“It’s been hard work since I came here, but the team are looking sharp and fit and we are raring to go.

“Hopefully I can become a regular starter for Arsenal, help where I can and score lots of goals for them.”
