STAITHES suffered an unfortunate defeat on Saturday when three goals in the last 20 minutes gave opponents Hollybush a flattering win.
New signing Scott Llewellyn started up front for Hollybush with strike partner Paul Robinson and on 15 minutes, Robinson crossed to find a unmarked Llewellyn to score with a header.
Staithes launched some good attacks but were unable to score. The closest they come was from a wild clearance from Kris Dixon which hit his own crossbar.
In the second half, long balls down the middle caused Hollybush no end of trouble and it was only a matter of time before Staithes scored, which they did when Gary Gilding latched on to a long ball.
This seemed to spur Staithes on and they got on top of the game but on 70 minutes, a great run from Liam Balls got to the byline and pulled the ball across the game for Robinson to make it 2-1 before further goals from Liam Balls and Mark Thompson sealed the win.
