Late goal-line clearances deny ‘Boro

GOLDSBOROUGH were denied a point against Lingdale when they had two shots cleared off the line late on.

The Lythe-based side took the lead on 22 minutes when new signing Ryan Roe beat the offside trap and his shot from the left wing found the top right corner.

Five minutes later, Lingdale were awarded a dubious penalty after an excellent tackle by Harland in the Goldsborough goal.

The penalty taken by Luke Johnson was weak and easily saved by Harland.

Lingdale levelled the scores on 55 minutes when a ball was knocked into the Goldsborough box and Jones got to the ball first, looping his header over the stranded Harland.

Lingdale took the lead on 65 minutes when Andy Smith scored from close range.

Five minutes later, Lingdale increased the lead when Luke Johnson ran through the defence to score.

Goldsborough pulled a goal back when Hegarty scored from the penalty box after Roe was tripped in the box.

‘Boro could have equalised with three minutes left when Lingdale cleared two shots off the line but held out for a narrow victory.
