Third division Itis Itis Rovers gained instant cup revenge with a 4-3 home win against top-flight Whitby Fishermen in the Coastal Shellfish League Cup quarter-final.

The two teams met last weekend, with Fishermen snapping up a 5-1 win to book a spot in the NRCFA Saturday Challenge Cup semi-finals, but today it was Rovers who claimed the honours in a thrilling clash at a boggy Oliver's Mount.

Sam Pickard opened the scoring in the League Cup clash, hammering a low shot into the corner from 35 yards out, but Fishermen levelled shortly after through Mark Swales.

Central midfielder Neil Forsyth restored Rovers' lead 10 minutes before the interval, but the visitors took charge after the break to move 3-2 ahead through Ian Smith and Sam Calvert and they looked to be heading for the semi-finals.

Rovers had other ideas and levelled when centre-back Dave Young came upfield for a free-kick and kept cool to net the home side's third goal and set up a grandstand finish.

Five minutes from time man of the match Forsyth burst forward to notch his second and take Rovers into the semi-finals, where they will travel to another Division One side, Edgehill, on March 19.

Right-back Niall Prentice scored a superb double as Goal Sports eased into the last four of the Frank White Trophy with a 4-0 win at Commercial.

Prentice opened the scoring on 10 minutes with a cracking left-foot volley after surging upfield from his defensive post after fine approach play from Tom Duckworth, who flicked the ball over a defender's head twice before setting up the full-back.

Five minutes before half-time Kieran Friett added a second for Mark Plumpton's side, taking advantage of a slip-up from home keeper Matty Rowley.

Goal Sports made sure of the win 20 minutes into the second half, Dan Pickard notching only two minutes after coming on as a sub, smashing his shot past keeper Rowley after a pass from the in-form Prentice.

And it was the right-back, who was man of the match for the victors, who aptly struck the fourth and final goal, powering his shot past Rowley after a delightful cross from Brad Parkin.

The man of the match for the home side was central midfielder Sam Raper.
