HINDERWELL got the better of their near neighbours Goldsborough and moved off the bottom of the table in the process.

The hosts started the better team but the first 10 minutes were all about midfield play and no strikes on goal.

Midway through the first half, the Hinderwell keeper played an early long ball to Clennan which resulted in a corner.

Clennan took the corner and flighted the ball into the goal area, where the keeper palmed the ball into his own goal to give Hinderwell a 1-0 lead .

Great credit to Hinderwell’s first half performance as they defended well and closed everything down.

The second half began and Hinderwell started badly, giving Goldsborough opportunities - and they levelled from a corner when Stu Marsay lost his marker to head in the equaliser.

End-to-end action followed with Hinderwell keeper Dominic Wright making some outstanding saves.

But it was Hinderwell who found another gear and the skill to finish it off.

When Chris Mann chased down a lost cause, every other player expected the ball to go for a goal-kick, but he kept the ball in play and squared to Gary Marsay who finished well to win the game.
