HINDERWELL footballer Beth Mead has been picked in the England under 17s squad to fly out to Poland to play in the European Championships.
Beth, a student at Whitby Community College, flies out from Luton on Tuesday (5 April) for a 10-day competition where England will be playing against Iceland, Sweden and hosts Poland.
The winners of the group will qualify to play in the finals at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, at the end of July.
Beth helped England qualify for this phase in October last year when they played Turkey, Armenia and hosts Belgium.
Fifteen-year-old Beth said the trip to Belgium was a great experience and what made it more special was the fact she scored her first two goals for England at full international level.
The past two years have seen Beth travel to Germany and Holland at under 15 level and this season alone, she has played South Africa and Norway in this country at under 17 level as well as the trip to Belgium.
At club level, Beth has been banging the goals in for Middlesbrough Centre of Excellence, scoring 23 times in 14 games.
She has also been busy training with Sunderland Womens FC who play in the FA Premier League, with a view to signing for them next season.
