Goldsborough fail to make advantage count

GOLDSBOROUGH were dumped out the Challenge Cup by a strong Lingdale performance against the wind.

Lingdale lost the toss and played with wind in the first half. They took the lead when Calvert played the ball to Duggen who controlled the ball on his chest and then lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box.

Goldsborough were penned in their half and some good saves from Harland kept Lingdale at bay.

A second goal came for the home side when a corner from Hitchin was headed home by Sivills.

Stuart Marsay was working hard for Goldsborough trying hold the midfield and Roe and Johnson were putting in some good work against the wind, but Lingdale got a third when Mike Dass ran through to score past the impressive Harland.

Goldsborough kicked off the second half with the wind behind them and put pressure on Lingdale from the start. Marsay and Martin were playing the ball round well for Hegarty and Roe but Lingdale stayed solid.

Lingdale’s Bulmer and Scott worked the ball about well and when Dass put the ball into the box, Scott slotted the ball home for 4-0.

Sub Flatters played Duggen in for his second and with Goldsborough struggling to make the wind advantage count, Lingdale got the sixth when Sivills scored with a great strike just inside the box.
