FISHBURN Park under 11s travelled away to Stokesley in the second round of the Teesside Junior Alliance League Cup and came away with a fine victory against tough opponents.
This was very much another excellent team effort, with a few stand-out performers to boot.
Park were on the front foot early on and made this count with the first goal, a strong shot by Fergus was followed up bravely by Ward-Hepburn who headed in from close range.
It was just reward for a lively start.
Stokesley carry a lively attack of their own and with Sault missing in the backline, Hansell dropped in and used his pace and strength to good effect, keeping the hosts at bay, with Urban quick into tackles too.
Stokesley levelled with a shot from distance skidding off the greasy surface, Humble made the save but could not hold on as the forward finished from close range.
That aside, Humble in goal was near perfect and grabbed everything in sight at the first attempt throughout.
After a five-minute spell of lacklustre passing, Park finally regained some composure and took the lead with a 20-yard finish from Ward-Hepburn into the top corner.
Park could have run away with the game at this point with the home keeper making a couple of vital saves to keep his team in it.
The second half again saw Park on top for the most part, but Stokesleyhad some decent play too and capitalised when a long looping ball was bundled over the line to level at 2-2.
But Park were not finished and created a couple of good chances to win it. Horne skipped past his man only to be denied by the keeper from close range and Swales and Gibson were both just edged out by the strong Stokesley centre defender.
Fergus then broke free from the midfield and struck a deflected shot to put Park into the next round.
Man of the match: Soni Fergus – full of desire and skill throughout.
