Diamond geezer’s tactics frustrate Staithes

STAITHES put up a brave fight - but Boosbeck’s new diamond formation paid dividends as they maintained their unbeaten run.

The change worked with only four minutes played, as Shane Breckon put the visiting side a goal up.

Both sides found it difficult to get any rhythm in the first half.

Staithes were quick in the tackle and wouldn’t give Boosbeck any time on the ball.

The home side were creating a lot of chances, but Boosbeck keeper Craig Fowler was on top form to deny them.

Aaron Johnson came close with his strike hitting the post.

The second half was similar to the first but Boosbeck started to created more chances, with players settling into the preferred formation.

Ryan Peebles came close with a solid header from a cross, but was aimed straight at the Staithes keeper.

Callum Raw picked up Boosbeck’s second goal. It wasn’t a pretty goal, but an important goal to ease the tension and keep the unbeaten run in the league.
