IN the local derby game at Staithes, Goldsborough were no match for their neighbours in the first half.

With Staithes winger Joe Gibson tormenting the visitors’ defence and Craig Marsey influential in midfield, Staithes were two goals up at the interval.

Tom Foster found the net first when Joe Gibson provided the cross for Foster to head past the keeper. Shortly after, James Rice had an easy tap-in as the Goldsborough defence were all at sea and failed to clear the ball.

Goldsborough pulled a goal back in the second half when Rob Clark scored, but Simon Bowes hit a free-kick that found its way through a crowed goal area to nestle in the net to thwart any attempted comeback.
