Chris Waddle and David Hirst to speak at Whitby Town fundraiser
Whitby Town Football Club have confirmed the details of the 2020 Sportman’s Dinner, which will take place in Robin Hood’s Bay on Wednesday March 4.
Last year saw Newcastle United legend John Beresford provide a memorable speech at the Saxonville Hotel, however in order to increase the capacity the venue has changed this year.
This year will see two guest speakers and both of them are former England internationals and it is great for the club to get two more big names to the event.
David Hirst only managed to make three England appearances, but he did manage to get one International goal to his name in his time representing the Three Lions.
He is considered one of the all-time greats at Sheffield Wednesday with Hirst making almost 300 appearances for the Hillsborough based club, scoring over 100 goals for the Owls.
He will be joined by Chris Waddle (pictured), who has over 60 England caps to his name and captained the side in 1985 under Sir Bobby Robson.
Waddle played for England at three major tournaments between 1986 and 1990, and we was one of the stars of Italia 1990 with several outstanding performances.
His clubs included Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille and Sheffield Wednesday where he made more than 100 appearances for each club.

The club only have seats for 150 people so don’t delay.
