CHRIS HARDY: We need the town to get behind promotion push

When I saw the gate for Saturday’s game against Skelmersdale, I was very disappointed.

I feel that I need to put a plea out to the people of Whitby to come and back the Football Club and give us the nudge we need heading into what is a promotion push.

We’re not a relegation-battling side anymore, so the lads deserve the support of the town.

When the Turnbull is lively and rocking, it really is a difficult place to come for away teams to play.

That really does make a difference to the lads and gives them that extra push that can really help out.

I’m looking to leave no stone unturned in our bid to get this side promoted, and getting the Turnbull rocking for our nine remaining home games would give us a huge boost.

I am reaching out to the people of the town who maybe haven’t been coming down to the Turnbull over recent years for whatever reason, to come and show your support for this team and help us see how far we can go as a group.

There’s no other teams in this area who are achieving as much as we are and I feel the team deserve the backing of the town.

We picked up a big three points at home to Skelmersdale on Saturday, but we could have made it a whole lot more comfortable for ourselves.

The game should’ve been dead and buried by half-time, but we missed a number of glorious opportunities to kill the game off.

We eventually managed to break the deadlock and then we had to show good character to hold of for the win.

We’re at Marine this Saturday for what will be another tough game. They’re not in great form, but it’s never an easy place to go and win.
