Boro ready for tough trio

Scarborough Athletic go into the first of a tough Evo-Stik North triple-header on Tuesday night at Farsley, 7.45pm.

Boro currently hold the final play-off place, a berth Farsley also have designs of capturing.

The West Yorkshire team are seven points behind Boro with a game in hand on Bryan Hughes and Paul Foot’s side.

This clash will be followed by a home game against another of Boro’s play-off rivals in Bamber Bridge on Saturday. Then leaders Salford City visit Queensgate the weekend after.

Despite these challenging fixtures coming thick and fast, joint-boss Foot isn’t feeling the pressure.

“I’m just looking forward to it, in fact I’m looking forward to all of these games,” said Foot.

“Things are going well and I’m not feeling the pressure you’d expect at this stage of the season.

“We have a good, happy squad of players at the moment, which is great.”

Foot and Hughes do have the continued headache of which side to select for these games, especially as defender Matty Plummer and the goalscoring pair of Gary Bradshaw and Jimmy Beadle are back in contention for a start.

He added: “Matty is back to fitness now after tweaking his hamstring, Gary is raring to go after another sub appearance on Saturday and Jimmy is in contention again after we rested him last weekend.

“It is quite hard to decide who fits in where, but I’ll sit down and talk with Bryan about it before the game and we’ll work it out.”

One area Boro may be reluctant to change is the defence. They have compiled four straight clean-sheets, with the current quartet of Dean Lisles, Ben Middleton, Danny Wilkinson and Paul Robson shutting out Bamber Bridge and Radcliffe in the previous two outings.

Foot said: “The back-four have been solid, it is just no nonsense defending, which is what we have asked for. They are all so hungry for it, which is something that is great to see.”
