WHITBY Town’s players are looking forward to Saturday’s big kick-off against Rushall Olympic - none more so than strike duo Nathan Mulligan and Graeme Armstrong.
Mulligan’s fired eight goals for the Blues throughout their friendlies and has targeted a further 15-20 strikes by next May.
The former Darlington FC marksman appears to be relishing the permanent move from out wide to centre forward.
He told the Whitby Gazette: “We have had a good pre-season. Some people might say we haven’t, due to results, but it’s all about getting the lads fit and raring to go for the start of the season.
“I think we have achieved that.
“Personally, scoring as many goals as I have, has given me the confidence for Saturday and the weeks ahead.”
Armstrong, who has represented Gateshead in the Blue Square Premier, is equally keen to get things started.
He said: “I’m just looking forward to getting the season started, to be honest. I think everyone is.
The tall frontman waited until Town’s seventh outing, at Guisborough, to make the scoresheet but followed that up with another against Bradford Park Avenue in Town’s final warm-up last Saturday.
He added: “I’m pleased I finally got some goals in pre-season, but it’s even more important that I start scoring in the league, hopefully [starting] with a win and a goal on Saturday.”
