Whitby Town will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce when they travel to Pickering Town tonight (Tuesday).
Darren Williams’ men have recorded consecutive victories over League One Bradford City and Evo-Stik Premier rivals Darlington in their last two pre-season outings.
And they will head into this evening’s encounter at Mill Lane full of confidence as they tackle a side that ply their trade two divisions below them in the Northern Counties East Premier Division.
It is however performances rather than results that interest boss Williams at this time of year.
“I’m not too concerned with results in pre-season, what matters is how well we are playing,” he said.
“We didn’t look fit enough when we played Guisborough a few weeks ago, but since then the performances have improved and we’ve played some good football at times.
“These matches are a chance to have a look at one or two players and try and give the squad as much chance to gel as possible ahead of the first league game.”
The Blues drew 2-2 with the Pikes in the corresponding game last year, Craig Farrell and Wayne Aziz with an own goal registering for Town that night.
