Blues back DoIt4Dion campaign
Whitby Town's players and management have given a generous gift to a brave Middlesbrough teenager fighting a rare form of cancer.
Dion Yates’ story found its way to the Turnbull Ground via the club’s goalkeeping coach Daniel Dixon, who wanted to raise awareness and money for the DoIt4Dion campaign.
The keen kickboxer is currently battling Ewing Sarcoma disease for the second time and will soon learn whether she will face life-saving surgery.
After hearing her story, the club’s players raised a total of £230 for Dion, donating part of their expenses from their wage packet.
The club also provided support by pushing the campaign on their social media outlets across the weekend, with Dixon’s campaign video reaching almost 6,000 views across Facebook and Twitter.
A JustGiving page has also been set up, welcoming donations to support the 17-year-old’s battle. The page can be found by searching DoIt4Dion online.
