HINDERWELL’S England U17 international footballer Beth Mead has made a fantastic start to the new season at FA Premier League ladies’ champions Sunderland WFC.
Beth (16) signed for the FA Premier League champions in July after manager Mick Mulhern expressed a great desire to sign her.
Pre-season training started in July which included a trip to Keele University to play in an international tournament.
Sunderland won every game to get to the final and Beth scored seven goals in six games which included a hat-trick against Liverpool.
To add the icing on the cake, Beth also scored a goal in the final where they beat Manchester City 2-0.
The final pre-season game was against Blackburn (pictured) which resulted in a 5-0 win to Sunderland with Beth scoring the fifth goal.
Sunderland have just started the defence of their FA Premier League title with two wins out of two.
They travelled to Watford for their first game and hammered the Hornets 8-2 with Beth scoring twice.
Next up were league cup champions Barnet, which resulted in a 2-1 win to Sunderland with Beth netting both goals.
Next up they are away to Coventry City so Beth is hoping she can keep up her good early season form in front of goal.
England U17s are due to go out to Northern Ireland in October to play in the first round of the European Championships where they will play Finland, Israel and Northern Ireland with the winners going onto the next phase early next year, so Beth is hoping to be included in the squad which will be there for 10 days.
Beth, who has to travel to Sunderland twice a week to train, is now studying hard at Whitby Community College, doing A levels in sport and science.
