HINDERWELL hotshot Beth Mead began 2012 in style as her brace of goals helped Sunderland ladies to emphatically sweep aside Notts Forest 6-1 on Sunday.
The female Black Cats took the lead on nine minutes when Nicola Devine hit a deep cross for Mead to head firmly into the net at the far post.
Mead soon added her second as Kelly McDougall to set her free on goal and the young striker calmly chipped over the advancing keeper from just inside the box.
There was no looking back for Sunderland after that as they romped home in their first game since the festive break
Sunderland are top of the FA Women’s Premier League on goal difference from Leeds but with a game in hand.
