Supporters at Fryup were treated to an excellent top of the table Eskdale League match when the home club hosted Danby on Saturday.
The visitors batted first and were restricted to 166/7 due to some tight bowling by Fryup, with Andy Raw taking 5-70.
Top scorer for Danby was Pete Snaith, making 58 – his first half century of the season.
Good contributions with the bat came from Jack Dowson (33), Jim Snaith (24) and Kev Horton (23).
After tea, Danby took to the field and were delighted to claim the wicket of Fryup captain Dave Bowes with the first ball of the innings.
The rest of the team battled hard against a strong bowling attack with Tom Pickering (55)linking up well with Andy Raw (27). Wickets fell at regular intervals, Alex Boyd and Paul Snaith taking three apiece, but when a determined Chris Knight (72 not out) was joined by Adam Bowes (25 not out), these two saw Fryup home with 11 balls to spare.
The result leaves the league title chase wide open.
