Donald the all-round star as Whitby bag winning draw

Will Donald shone with bat and ball as Whitby claimed the better of a draw in their NYSD Division One game at home to Northallerton.

Openers Donald and Fin Morris struck 38 and 37 respectively, with number three batsman James Fawcett top-scoring on 53 as the hosts posted 205-6 from 50 overs.

Kev Clarkson's spell of 5-30 kept the visitors in with a fighting chance.

Opener Albert Aurelius and number five batsman Ben England both hit 47 as Northallerton pushed for victory, but tight bowling from Donald, 3-37, and James Hall, 3-47, saw the visitors forced to hang on for 185-8.

Whitby 2nds slumped to a 164-run defeat at Normanby Hall 2nds in Division Two.

Corey Hart took 3-63 and Michael Thompson 2-72 as the hosts amassed 252-6, mainly thanks to opener Lee Havelock's 107 and 64 from Francois Kroukamp.

Whitby then slumped to 88 all out from just 27.3 overs, despite battling efforts from Jack Lyth, 34, and Mark Jackson, 27.

Dhanish Hussain and Kroukamp snapped up three wickets apiece for the hosts.
