Two wins in two days - including a cup final triumph - made for a successful bank holiday weekend for Whitby CC 1sts.
On Sunday, the men from the Turnbull Ground won the North Yorkshire and South Durham Division One 15s Cup, beating Thornaby CC.
Australian ace Richard Howe smashed 91 at the top of the innings as Whitby made 157-8 batting first.
In reply, Thornaby were restricted to 142-6 from their 15 overs, James Hall taking 3-25 and Tom Steyert 2-17.
A day earlier, Paul Buck’s side extended their lead at the top of the North Yorkshire and South Durham Division One table when they claimed maximum points from their visit to Northallerton.
The 26-run victory, combined with second-placed Billingham Synthonia’s failure to beat Sedgefield, saw Whitby open up a 15-point advantage over their closest rivals.
Such a positive result looked unlikely at one stage as the visitors were bowled out for just 123, Matthew Towey top-scoring with 26.
Northallerton’s hopes of chasing down their victory target were however blown away by some superb bowling from James Hall, 5-17, and Will Donald, 5-47.
