Tykes ace Bresnan suffers calf injury

Yorkshire seamer Tim Bresnan will miss the first six weeks of the season after scans revealed that he has torn his lower calf.

The former England star sustained the injury during Yorkshire’s pre-season tour of the UAE and is set to miss the White Rose County’s first four matches of the Specsavers County Championship.

“It is unfortunate for Tim,” said Yorkshire’s physio, Kunwar Bansil, who is a former Scarborough CC player.

“He will now start an intense period of rehabilitation on his torn calf and we hope to have him back fit and strong during the middle of May.”

Meanwhile, young fast bowler Matthew Fisher has picked up a hamstring strain and is expected to be out of action for two weeks.

f his rehabilitation programme goes to plan, he is likely to be considered for selection when Yorkshire start their Championship campaign at home to Hampshire commencing on Sunday April 17.
