The Whitby-born, former Scarborough CC man insists he is focused on another good campaign.

He said: “We’re already back in pre-season at Yorkshire County Cricket Club and we’ve started by having four weeks of gruelling fitness which is pretty challenging but it is always great to get back with the lads and to have the banter flying about while we get back in shape.

“We have a couple of weeks off at Christmas and go again in the New Year as we prepare for Dubai.

“Hopefully we can win another game out there against the MCC like we did last season.

“There is already a great buzz around Headingley as the lads start their preparations for 2016 season.”

Talk has already started of the Tykes making it a hat-trick of title wins in a row in 2016.

That is something Lyth is certainly aiming for. He added: “Obviously people are already talking about winning the Championship for a third successive year and there is no reason why we can’t.

“The hard work has already started towards that.

“We have a full squad in training and in January we will start to focus on our disciplines so that’s when I’ll start to have a bat.

“It will come round quick and if we prepare like we have done in the last two seasons and we keep the injuries down for the bowlers I don’t see why we can’t do it again.”

Lyth insists Yorkshire must improve in the limited overs competitions going forward.

“In terms of white ball cricket we know that’s an area of improvement,” he added.

“We did well in the One-Day Cup last season where we got to the semi-final, it would have been nice to get to Lord’s and we came up against a fantastic Gloucester side and Klinger’s knock was absolutely outstanding.

“Hopefully next season we can go one better and maybe even win it.

“In the NatWest T20 Blast we need to improve a hell of a lot, we have underperformed in that for the past couple of seasons and for the team we’ve got we need to do a lot better than we have been.”
