BECKETT LEAGUE: Filey race past Sherburn while Staithes stay top

Filey raced to a rapid 10-wicket win against Sherburn in Zone One of the Beckett League Premier Division.

Callum Ferrie took 6-11 and Josh Dawson 3-21 as Sherburn were all out for just 38 before Ryan Baldy smacked 37 not out as Filey raced to victory in just 2.3 overs.

Scarborough stayed top of Zone One thanks to a 26 run win at Scalby.

Nick Zakrzewski’s 51 and 32 from skipper Pat Roberts helped Scarborough to 164-7, Aidan Thomas taking three wickets.

Despite Ben Luntley hitting 46 and James Ledden 33, Scalby were all out for 133, skipper Roberts taking 3-13 while Sam Carver, Charlie Hopper and Guy Emmett bagged two wickets each.

Bridlington 2nds kept pace with the top two as they beat Staxton by three wickets.

Staxton made 155-6, Kieran Walker top-scoring with 56 as Lewis Beasley took 3-31 before Brid made it to 156-6 with just three balls to spare, Andy Smith unbeaten on 49.

Stephen Kitching’s 61 and 58 from Daniel Artley helped Sewerby past Flixton 2nds.

The hosts made 202-9, Finlay Ward taking 4-50 and Charlie Colley 3-29 before Flixton were all out for just 86 despite Josh Till’s 41.

Staithes stayed top of Zone Two thanks to their 10-run win at home against Wykeham.

Luke Harrison’s 64 helped Staithes post 160-6, Jack Holt taking 4-26.

Holt then hit 69, but it wasn’t enough as three wickets from Simon Bowes helped restrict Wykeham to 151-8.

Nawton Grange won a low-scoring contest at Heslerton to stay in second spot.

Grange were all out for just 87, Mark Dring taking 4-3 and Andy Slaughter 4-4, Charlie Allott hitting 36.

Despite Kristian Wilkinson’s 32, Heslerton were all out for 68 in their reply, Sam Farrow taking 4-23, Wayne Dawson 3-26 and Joe Judge 2-0.

Great Habton were comfortable winners against Settrington.

John Lumley’s 57 and 38 from Benjamin Holtby helped Habton to 194-6, Rob Harrison, Oliver Varey and Paul Offord taking two wickets each before Settrington fell to134 all out, Stuart Watmore taking 4-16 and Jack Garrity 3-11.

Thornton Dale beat Ebberston by just three runs.

Dale posted 99-4, Tim Hunt hitting 54 before Ebberston fell just short on 96 all out despite 38 from Jonny Mason, Kieran Edmond taking stunning figures of 6-14.
