Whitby Heritage Centre still closed

After another very enjoyable visit to Whitby last week there was one thing which still saddened me – and that was to see that the Whitby Heritage Centre, which was housed on Flowergate, has still not been reopened anywhere in Whitby town.

Having previously visited and used this centre I think it is very regrettable that such a wealth of local knowledge about Whitby and its people has not been able to find a new home in which to display this most valuable archive.

Surely there must be somewhere and some funding which could be found in order that this most valuable treasure of Whitby’s inheritance would be available to all interested parties and the many visitors to ‘the jewel of the North East coast’.
