Sainsbury’s have applied to Scarborough Council to include a fuel station adjacent to their new store being built on Stainsacre Lane.
I have written to the council to support this application and I have read through most of the other comments submitted to the council.
There is a lot of support for this application and a common theme of this support is anger that the motorists of Whitby have to pay a premium on their petrol and diesel fuel.
Many feel that the current suppliers of fuel abuse their monopoly on supplies and that competition from Sainsbury’s will reduce prices in Whitby.
I hope this will be the case and that Sainsbury’s do not get their fuels from the current supplier adding on the Whitby premium.
