Singing for charity

Yesterday Sleights Singers Ladies and Guests gave the seventh annual “Carols for Diners” at Victoria Farm Garden Centre and Café on the Guisborough Road.

The audience must have numbered upwards of 200 dining carollers, who no doubt had eaten well, most certainly sang lustily and gave generously to the tune (or carol) of £224.67 for The Whitby Group of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

My thanks must go to the generosity of our audiences; to the Ladies; to Ken Thwaites our magnificent accompanist; to Harry Collett our baritone soloist and to Jean, Bill and Mark Noble of Victoria Farm who also provided everybody with mulled wine and mince pies on the house.

The overall donations to Marie Curie Cancer Care since the start of our “Carols for Diner” come to nearly £1,500. Thank you for your support in 2011 Best wishes to you and your colleagues
