Overwhelmed with good wishes

On behalf of my mother, Vera Butterwick, I would like to thank you for the lovely account of her 100th birthday celebrations which you published in the Whitby Gazette on 21 October.

She was delighted to receive so many cards of good wishes and gifts from friends in Whitby and for being remembered by the Masonic Caedmon Lodge, where my late father, Alan Butterwick, was an active member.

Mum also received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the Whitby and District Motor Club where both my parents were keen members.

She was quite overwhelmed with everyone’s kindness in making her 100th birthday such a joyful, memorable occasion.
