During the past few years Whitby west cliff has been well endowed with seats dedicated by families to deceased relatives.
These have been very much appreciated by locals and visitors alike. However, how can Scarborough Borough Council warrant spending council tax money on placing 11, yes 11, brand new seats, as well as expensive foundations, overlooking the Arnold Palmer putting course.
At a time when councils are supposed to be cutting costs, was this a necessary expense (presumably the seats will be dedicated to Whitby council taxpayers) or could this site be a venue for the 2012 Olympics?
