Letter: Whitby gives great support

Whitby NSPCC committee would like to express their gratitude to the local people who have supported recent fund raising events.

Thanks to their generosity, we raised £623 during our Flag Collection day and £473 at a recent quiz held at the Conservative Club.

We thank Angela Goodberry for another of her excellent quizzes and the Conservative Club for the use of their premises.

The success of the quiz evening was in part due to the excellent prizes donated to the raffle by local tradespeople and private individuals.

We are extremely grateful for their generosity and we thank Raithwaite Estate, Wilf Noble, The White Horse and Griffin, The White House, Contemporary Hair Salon, The Co-op and Victoria Farm Garden Centre.

Your support helps the NSPCC change children’s lives for the better.

Forty service centres across the country work directly with children and families on a range of issues.

Nine to 11-year-olds are visited in schools as part of the NSPCC schools service helping them to understand what abuse is and give them the confidence to speak out and seek help.

NSPCC Childline provides help and support to thousands of adults and children every single day of the year.

Every 25 seconds a child calls Childline.

We continue our fundraising in Whitby for the NSPCC in the hope that generous people will give a little, but change a lot.

Our next event is a coffee morning at Saxonville Hotel Whitby, on November 25, 10am to noon. £4 entry which includes refreshments and a mince pie.

Raffle, cakes and craft stalls will be available.

Please join us if you can.
