Letter: Help save Whitby area bus service

It is my impression that there are still many people in our area who are not fully aware of the extent of the cuts to bus subsidies proposed by North Yorkshire County Council.

We in the Moors Area Bus Group are of the opinion that the consultation process was flawed and that not enough effort was put into publicising the survey about buses.

For this reason we have arranged a public meeting to be held on Thursday October 8, at 6.30pm in Goathland Village Hall.

The results of the questionnaires will be presented to the Scrutiny Committee on October 14 and decisions will be taken on December 8 by the Executive but there is still time to make your concerns known to the people who will be at the meeting: Richard Owens from NYCC passenger transport, local councillors: to include parish, town, borough council and county council and a representative from Coastliner.

Come at six for a photo beforehand, if you can, and contact us if you have transport problems.

NB The Coastliner 840 bus arrives in Goathland before six, and lifts back to Whitby can be arranged.
