Letter: Can you shed light on dad’s brave rescues?

editorial image

My father was Chief Coastguard at Robin Hood’s Bay from 1947 to 1953.

I was only about 10 but can remember he received two vellums for bravery from the Royal Humane Society for rescuing people from either shipwrecks or trapped by the tide.

Unfortunately I have lost the citations and am trying to obtain any information about these rescues.

I now live in Looe in Cornwall and unfortunately cannot get to Whitby.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Thanking you in advance whether you can help or not.

My telephone number is (01503) 26545, e-mail iainsainsbury@phonecoop.coop
