Your feature on the refurbished White Horse was very interesting and also highlights how vulnerable precious old buildings still are, even in the 21st Century.
That it could have been turned into flats by an offshore developer, another jewel lost to the ‘price of everything value of nothing’ mentality, if the new owners Andrew and Ed hadn’t secured it.
So a big thanks to them for caring - and also to the former owner, Mr Perkins, who had spent 11 years lovingly restoring it. Good luck to them, they deserve to succeed.
If I were lucky enough to live near the White Horse I wouldn’t object to it having a drinks licence - it’s part of the building’s history and I very much doubt it would have any negative impact. Plus I love pubs so I hope the objectors can be reassured and won round.
