I would like to thank the Whitby Gazette for highlighting the problem of fly-tipping, which not only blights the countryside but costs councils’ thousands of pounds to clear up.
The perpetrators, when caught, deserve to be heavily fined.
In this case, at Cowbar, it is the responsibility of Redcar and Cleveland Council and they responded quickly as soon as I made them aware of the problem after reading the gazette. From Boulby down to Cowbar and onto Whitby is the Heritage Coast and the Cleveland way that is well used by hikers and visitors and we want them to enjoy the beauty of our area and not have it spoiled by fly-tipping. Keep up the campaign.
Councillor Eric Jackson, Loftus Ward, Redcar and Cleveland Council
