I want to thank everyone involved in the performance of Favourite Baroque Classics at St Hilda’s Church, Whitby.
The first half included a trumpet concerto by Fasch played outstandingly by guest trumpet virtuoso David Staffs.
There was also Brandenburg concertos 2 and 3 and Tony Mason dedicated the second concerto to the memory of local musician Fred Dennis who died recently.
Stephen Maltby did a wonderful job of conducting the St Hilda’s Festival Orchestra and there were outstanding performances by Stephen Norval on oboe, Catherine Sign on flute and Tony Mason on violin in the Brandenburg Concerto No 2.
The church was packed and I am sure that the audience like me enjoyed their evening immensely, with a glass of wine or fruit juice at the interval.
It was a real treat to have such an excellent event staged at Whitby rather than travelling further afield.
