Congratulations to all involved in the regatta weekend, everything combined to make it one of the best.
However, one area caused some concern. Who was in charge of the lighting on the cobbled pathway, leading from the top of the steps up to the whale bones?
On Sunday night after watching the fair arrive down the Kyber Pass, this pathway was crowded with people some of whom were stumbling on the cobbles, in the dark, as the light was out.
I saw one elderly lady fall to the ground, thankfully she was quickly picked up and seemed none the worse for her fall. Also the floodlights on the whale bones themselves, were out. Surely the iconic symbol of Whitby should have been lit and checks made prior to the weekend that everything was in order.
